??? - Eh  :dontknow:

Are you saying you are prepared to move/fabricate mounts if necessary, or that you don't want to move mounts?

If you don't want to move mounts, you are limited to 1.1 & 1.3 petrol engines from the early VW range.
If you are prepared to move/fabricate mounts, the world is your oyster! How about a 5.0L V8???!!!

Polo 6n2 1.6 16v will bolt pretty much straight in.

Mk3 Polo 1.3 GT (3F) is a dead simple swap.

If you don't mind from fabrication (move one engine mount) you can fit 1.8 8v GTI and with a different exhaust manifold, 1.8 GTI.  Mk3 Golf engine does fit (but is taller) on GTI mounts so 2.0 16v is a possibility.

1.8 G60 supercharged and 1.8 20valve Turbo will go in but there are more modifications to do.

VR6 is NOT a simple swap but has been done.  All depends on your budget.

If you've got now much ???'s then Mk3 Polo 1.3 GT is your best bet.

EXAMPLE: dodge viper v10. may have to fabricate engine mounts plus a few other minor alterations. do you have a shoe horn and a little chip fat?

I've been thinking of putting a 1.6 16v Polo engine in but i'm not up on the Polo's that much so hopefully u can shed some light. What year is the 6n2 out of? Do u know what exact mods need doing for this to go in as i have the same car as lpkpjh… is it just one mount needs moving or do i have to relocate anything like the servo etc? All help is much appreciated from the experts!! :D

My friend is trying to by a Seat Arosa off a guy on evil bay and it's had the Polo 1.4 16v engine out of a 98-02 Polo if i remember rightly, then the guy had a turbo put on it by TSR apparently lol i bet that flies….. Would the standard version of that engine fit easily that u know of?

Oh and one final thing…. i've always been curious about the mk4 Tdi or even the GT TDi engines fitting in a mk1… Would that be lots of work do you think? I'm not planning on doing it as i'm not experienced enough but just curious as i said :D

Thanks

Karl

None of those parts apart from possibly the brakes, would be any use.

Tank = Mk1 Golf GTI
Suspension = Mk1 Golf GTI or aftermarket sports suspension, or coilovers
Drive shafts = any big block Mk1
Steering arm = any 5 speed big block Mk1
