Can anyone give me a target price to get a engine change done for (straight swap) apart from the one going in is 1950cc and 149bhp

Maybe i will just use the head from the modified engine as my engine has only done 80k from new, that would be simple enough, but then i will lose out on capacity from 1781cc to a 1950cc, what do people think? the engine i am buying is 149 bhp as a whole unit on the rolling road, is the power in the head or the bottom end?

There will be a number of differences, which work together to enhance the performance. For example, a capacity increase, better flowed inlet manifold, larger throttle body. Any 3 of these mods would not increase power (much) on its own, but when combined would make for power gains. If the engine has come out of a Golf GTI and its going into one, I can't see any huge issues ahead of you.

Interesting capacity increase in a rebored DX. What crank is being used.

As far as i have been told by the seller of the engine its the original crank which he has said was polished with upgraded oil pump, new seals, new shells etc with new ks pistons :dontknow: he said with the headwork done it has been dynoed at 149 bhp. anyone ????
