Engine Management 2E Tallblock

Hey ppl, i did a conversion installing an imported 2E tallblock engine in my A1 Body.

Evertything ran fine with a previous 1.8 engine.
I managed to burn out the entire engine bay with the 2.0 2E setup due to ignition related issues.

I modified a standard 1.8 Dizzy using the 2e gear on the intermed shaft. Using this 1.8 dizzy with vacuum advance it started beautiful but did not rev up clean to 6000. The carbs (Weber 40 DCOE) where tested on another 1.8 engine and worked a treat!

Now my Big Q to you guys is would the 2E engine run of the normal TCI unit with a modded dizzy or would a mangement kit with the 2E dizzy work best?

Any help would be much appreciated, as im not Burning down my car again! :banghead:

I'd say the non-clean revving is probably more due to the twin carbs than an ignition issue. Even if they work on another engine (1.8), unless it has the same VW characteristics, this isn't a guarantee of good running on yours. They might need re-jetting for its new application.

There's not a lot to choose from in the 2 ignition setups you describe. Contrary to myth, you won't make huge gains from an optimised ignition map, maybe 4-5% at the most.
