engine conversion

golf 1.1 needs to be changed for a gti lump!!!!! is this easily possible if so!! would anybody be willing to share their knowledge

youll need to move the engine mounts

new fuel lines

different steerin wrack

new mounts for air filter

theres probaly a few more id say if your gonna go to all that trouble go for something worth while 16v—20vt—g60—vr6???

as andunp says, not really worth the trouble, it may be worth just buying a gti?!
 plus you could get some money back on your existing car that way.

I did it, though only cos I got offered all the bits dead cheap…

It is a lot of work to do. It's deffinately worth considering the 16v if you are going to do it from scratch…

Depends on the shell, if its a minty small block, then why not do the conversion!

but yeah, you might as well go for 16v while your at it, no more effort.

itz a 1.1 83 golf! im only 19 so that was great for the insurance!! but now ive managed to get a quote for a gti!!! bt after what andump, if im going to do a conversion i had just as well stick in the 16v lump!!!

i have full restort the body on my golf e.g new bonnet, wings, front pannels, and two new rear arches!!!! so i no the body is mint!!

if i am going to do a conversion is any web sites, books or any advice u could give me,
ive change over engines before!. but never done a conversion to a bigger engine. so im not a complete novice
