ECU on a mk1 golf?
Heres the story. I've got jenvery throttle bodies for my mk1 golf gti 1.8 8v 1983. Jenvey said before i bought them they would be a direct fit and would be easy to fit. All i will need is Bosh beige injectors from a vauxhall xe engine and a puel pressure regulator. When i got the TB's i had a look at them at the side of my engine and they deffo do not fit. I contacted them again and they said i need a weber manifold! I have now ordered one and it should be here in the next few days.
The next problem is the injectors. I asked how would the injectors work as my car doesnt have a wiring loom for them. They said that i need to fit an ECU to make them work. I have no idea how this is possible does any one else know? I read that you need a throttle pot but i have no idea what these are and whaat they do. Can any one tell me?
Can any one help me please as i feel i have just spent ?800 on parts for nothing.
Thankyou very much.

Yes, fitting throttle bodies means that you need to run with fuel injection too, pragmatically it will have to be an electronic aftermarket system since you'll need to run in Alpha-N mode (open loop control, determining fuelling requirement by throttle position and engine RPM).
Obviously you'll need to replace the mechanical injectors with electrical ones. This might mean a new head, unless you can confidently adapt the existing one to accept the injectors. You might also need to change the fuel pump to one that runs at 3 bar instead of 5 bar.
Sounds like an awful lot of changes, for not a lot of power gain.

It's a pretty serious spend going to throttle boddies - not really worth it unless you are running a full race engine.
You'll probably need to go to a late Cabrio fuel tank with a lift pump in it and a bigger fuel pump, maybe from a 16V Mk2 or a G60?
My mate went to throttle boddies on his Nova. Once he had it all running, mapped and everything sorted, his total spend was about ?4.5k. He did see 139bhp from a 1.4 16v engine though! First time out won it's class and finished 5th overall.
