Driveshafts solution for 9a valver conversion with 02a box?

Now then, i'v heard many stories about this subject and i know best solution is to use cabrio driveshafts with 100mm c/v joints but i have brand new 1.8 gti shafts complete with c/v joints and i wona use them

Am i right to belive that gearbox output flanges can be swaped with 1.8 gti flanges and shafts will bolt on?

thanks

I *think* you can but changing over the flanges are a real pig to do! :banghead:

I, personally, would buy the 100mm innner cv joints and put then on the GTI drive shafts. Alot less hassle 8)

Are'nt there suppose to be issues with doing that due to different lengths of shafts or something?

Seem to remember reading somewhere people having problems with doing so

The shafts and outer cv joints are the same - it's just the inner cv joint that's different 8)

Yea that sounds about right, but i am sure that is the reason for need to modify drive shaft end in order to fit c/v joint to it and it causes me concern for reliability

something to do with circlip not fitting properly i fink

Just read on club gti forum that in order to fit 100mm c/v joints to standard shafts you have to turn 2mm of c/v joint centres to allow the circlip to fit

Think i'l stick to original plan and change drive flanges
