Dash swap

hi there, iv got a mk4 golf that i am braking for spares, i am wanting to put the dash in to my mk1, does any one know of it being done before??
if so where is the best pace to cut the dash, at its narrowest point it needs about 70mm thaen off.

im sure iv seen a TT dash in a golf, it could have been in a mk2 tho?!?!

the mk1 dash is 127cm wide, the mk4 dash is 134cm at its narrowist so looking to shave 70mm, haha could be interesting

any help would be great  :y:
thanks grant

Personally and only talking road use i dont think the mk1 can use over 200 bhp which is the only reason for needing a turbo so 2 ltr 16v should make for a very lively car. Any one with a turbo who wants to let me have a drive to be proved wrong i am happy to accomodate.

haha, id take you up on that offer but my mk4 turbo just got written off by a polish lad cumming round a corner on my side of the road, he also wrote me off for 6months when he broke my back, no hard feelings,

just got the car back the other day and am un able to do anything so the brain went on over drive thinking of loads of differnt ideas for the avalable parts. thanks tho

You can have a go in mine . :|

MK4 Polo dash would be a better swop [if you must] . Why would you want a lardy MK4 dash in a MK1 [i have both models] .

Cheers………….

Polo dash is a fairly easy conversion, width is just about right, the heater vent channels need some chopping and fibreglassing though, gotta have leccy windows too as the winders don't clear the dash.  With a 1.8t conversion if you use a late mk4 polo dash the 1.8t clock innards will fit into the polo carcass.
