Crossflow head

Hi all

I have my 2l bottom end and I have changed to fitting some twin carbs. I am wondering what model the crossflow heads come from so I can fit the carbs on the front????

beetle with 2.0 8v had crossflow

hi done this mod on mine but using throttle bodies not carbs, u need a crossflow head from either a mk4 golf or new beetle engine code aqy is one of the popular ones but it wont fit straight on. The head bolt holes need drilling out and the egr holes in the exhaust manifold side need blanking off hope this helps. jay

Hi jay what do you mean drilling out?
Do the holes just need enlarged?
Is it just a blanking plate on the egr side?
Who did you get to do the work on your head or did you do it yourself?

ya i did the work myself, the head bolt holes need enlarging by 1mm as the head bolts are smaller on the mk4 golfs. i found this out the hard way! as for the egr ports there are 4 small holes on the back of the head about 6mm so i drilled them out and taped them to 8mm and used grub screws and thredlock to blank them off. not all heads have egr ports i found out after but it wasnt a big problem. jay
