Corrado Interior

Has anybody fitted one to their Mk1 either Cabby or Tintop? I have my eye on one and wondered if the rear bench presented any real problems in getting it to fit? I'm told the front seats slot straight in though and can only assume this is true.

Anyone had any experiences?

Put corrado fronts in mine yesterday again and yep they are a straight fit, rears would need some work as I don't think they are wide enough to fit so you'd need to make up something to fill the gap plus may need to fab some brackets to bolt the seats down.

I thought the rear bench from a Rado was the same width as a mk1 cabby? i seen a few with them, i know the rears are too narow for a tin top and the mk2 but the mk1 cab is narrower than those

May well be, I've only looked into putting them into a tintop as was going for a set ages ago.

I'm back from sunny Kent with the seats. A bit dirty but in fantastic condition and ohhhh so comfy, my head actually connects with the head rest. Anyway I'm gonna clean em up an d then try fitting them.

Seats out of a Rado G60, not bad for ?150!

I'll get some pics up for you lot. Oh and Top, I drove safely through Kent, I didn't want any introductions to your mates.

Thanks Kenno, looks like a good guide there. I've got to go and see the inlaws now so wont have a chance to play until tomorrow.

I'm excited now, the joy of a firm stable drivers seat.

Sounds like a good buy mate, are they the blue/green cloth? they are nice looking seats, whereabouts in Kent you get em from?

and im not at work for a couple of hours

as for cleaning them i did my Recaros with a normal car sponge and some meguiars car wash!!! used the 2 bucket method and they ccame up really clean, i tried those foam cleaners and all they seem to do is diperse the dirt around! and when they dry it looks worse than ever, a Vax is the best way but i dont have one

Just wondering, I'm going to have to drill into the base where the rear seats go in order to secure them. How close is the petrol tank? Is this something I should get a pro to do for me? I don't want to end up drilling some vent holes in my tank do I.

Tian

The tank is prettty close. 20-30mm (where the sender hole is, anyway)

It's easy to check, there's an inspection hole at the front edge of the rear seats towards the drivers side that comes out with three screws. It lets you seee where the fuel pipes and fuel guage wires go into the tank. Had mine off the other day, I took my rear seats out as I was having a good old look around.

Yradave says relax.

Thanks for that. unfortunately the back of the Cabby is very different, you've got the strengthening bar to contend with for a start. I don't want to but I might have to end up fixing the rear seat back rather than having a tilting mechanism.

Looks like the back seats are going to be a problem as the rear upright is too wide and square and to get it to fit will need some major mods to the bottom half of the seat to tease it past the wheel intrusion. I haven't tried the base yet but that's all but just sponge so not too difficult to cut, tack and secure.

I'll have to think carefully about removing the foam and covers from the Corrado frame  and affixing it to the original frame. Trouble is I don't want to destroy either seat and find I've made an huge error of judgment.

Let me think about it.

if you cant get your hands on a hot wire, an electric bread knife is the best thing for cutting foam.

I've been fitting rado rears in my cab, had to move the whole rear of the seat forward to avoid the roof frame that hit when you put it up or down.
I am gonna fix them so they dont tilt forward and fix the 2 halves of the frame so it is 1 peice.

heres how it looks so far

What did you do about the width of the back and getting it between the wheel arches? And I love to see some detail pics if you have them!

Tian

The rears fitted quite snugly between the plastics already there, the base will need some work as there not shaped to the inner arch.
I'm going to make some new side panels to take up the gap. Maybe put a couple of amps in the panels.

I dont have any good pics yet but will try and take some.

I take it then that you have fabricated new bolts for the release catches to lock onto, or have you built something behind the seat backs to hold them upright? If so they bust be sitting more forward and upright surely! I only say because I'm anxious about loosing any space in the back.
