I would be thinking of gear stick and linkage , pedal assembly , clutch cable , and of course a gear box . You will also need possibly a flywheel , steering rack [for gear linkage] and a complete clutch assembly , also some of the wiring will need altering to get rid of the automatic inhibitors . If you get a Haynes manual and look at the automatic gear box section then imagine what you need to get rid of it all it becomes more straight forward .
Best start would be to find a Haynes manual then obtain a donor vehicle and nick all its bits or speak to crazyquiff on here re parts as he has a large stash see : www.golfmk1.co.uk or drop him a PM via the site .
This will be quite an easy conversion once started and advice is always available on here . keep us posted on how it goes .
Cheers…………

Only seen 2 other auto Cabs and 3 tin tops, they are quite rare…….
….and with a Weber carb, and everything set correctly (kick-down etc..) they can really shift.
…and we are STILL getting 35 mpg all round…..the same as the GTI…
Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Did you make notes / take pics ????? Just in case anyone else wants to know how to do it. Would be nice to know exactly what's involved.
What's happened to the old auto box????
