Convert back to original suspension

Due to insurance reasons I need to convert my lowered suspension back to the original.  I am a bit of a novice.   Do I just have to buy the springs, or shocks as well.  Grateful for any help.

Springs and dampers for the rear, springs, struts and strut inserts for the front, assuming you can swap over the top mounts, the bolts aren't seized and don't need to be cut; and you remember to re-use the rubber collars at the rear too.

This is a guide in the How to section in how to do your suspension, as I'm a useless mechanic I used it to fit my new suspension and it was easy enough !!

unless the suspension was really low you can keep the shocks, but id only do so if they're relatively new and also a good make. sachs/boge units you cant go wrong if you need to replace them and dirt cheap to buy new from ebay and online parts places. gas are best but nothing wrong with oil units, thats what i put on my mk1 cab and it handled great on std mk1 gti springs.

id put new top mounts, bump stops and rubber bits on too, while its in bits. check the condition of your spring plates too they might be past their best. make sure the rears come with the lower spring plates if you want an easy life as they come in 2 different inner diameters which is a pain!

I'd get the bits from here:

Bought a whole bunch of new stuff now and more or less ready to re-assemble and refit.  Before I do this the only thing I'm not 100% sure on is the front top spring caps.  I notice you can buy "lowering spring caps".  How can I tell if the ones I have are standard caps or lowering caps.  Any help gratefully appreciated.

you would have to take them off and have a look i think, unless you can get a good picture inside the arch? if they look all old n rusty then they're probably original vw.
