Chip to map timing

Hi guys my first post!    Wandering if any pf u guys have chipped ur motors with a Shiperchip, K-Star or similar. Are they even available for the mk1, if so are they worth splashing out on?

Probably not as they are no longer made and getting someone with the right equipment to map them will be tricky to say the least…

If you want to be able to map the fueling and spark go the electronic injection route and have a look at megaquirt. Fully mappable by yourself. No more expensive trips to the tuners everytime you make a mod to the engine.

Cheers woza - ill check out megasquirt. Does it provide much of a bhp increase?

other option would be to look for a V-SAM Pro kit, lead and software (I happen to have this lot  :wink: ). This allow syou to alter the igntion curve and also adjust the fuelling all doen on a  labtop. A lot easier to do than other options, as it uses std mk1 set-up and can give good results. :wink:

Not necessarily an increase in peak bhp (might see a bit) but it lets you adjust the curve throught the rev range to get the most from the engine at all revs…
