I'm sure you would need a diff head for this.

No other (points based) dizzy fits straight on. Apparently an old Polo 1300 dizzy can be machined to fit the valver head, which will get you where you want to be, but that sounds like more hassle than it is worth.
Check on the CGTI forums - loads of people running valvers on carbs, so it can't be a big headache.
I need to address this myself at some point, though not at this stage yet.
Was also planning on using MegaJolt mappable ignition, which along with the necessary Ford EDIS ignition stuff can be done for about ?200…

Sorry I'm a bit vague - This is the one area I haven't really researched well myself as I was planning on going the MegaJolt route. If you can afford the ?200, it is well worth a look at.
Buy the kit from Brent in the US (The link above) get Ford EDIS ignition set up from a scrappy for about ?20 to ?30. buy a toothed wheel and weld it to the crank pully and mount the crank sensor accordingly.
As long as you have access to a laptop or a PC, then you can tweak your ignition map to produce the best results. Ideal if you are doing something like adding carbs to an engine not originally designed to take them…
I remember hearing something about using the 16v electronic ignition with carbs and losing the automatic advance on acceleration, hence the polo points dizzy option. The valver dizzy has no centrifugal advance built in to it…
