can a mk2 golf rear seat foam and cloth be trimmed into mk1

hi all.

let me start by saying i have a golf mk2 trim that was removed from my old mk2 show car after it was stolen and found part stripped in london.

i now have a mk1 cabby and i wondered if the front seats would fit?

and

also what work (if it is possible) would it take to fit a golf mk2 golf rear seat cloth and seat foam onto a golf mk1 cabby rear seat frame?

i have no interior for my golf and knowing the seats i have are worth more to me than the money i would get by selling them i would like to use them

thanks
in advance for your help

Fronts slot straight in and the back can be modified to fit, how well depends a lot on how much effort you want to put in to it really.

hi,

thanks for that.

whats the thoughts then would i be better trying to fit the mk2 seat or have a mk1 seat trimmed with the cloth and padding from the mk2?

thanks

The MK2 seat would be too wide mate. I don't know how good you are with welding etc but I'd be inclined not to loose the tilt function of the seat so using the MK1 seat would be my preference.

It's been done before so worth doing a search on here.

I put a MK2 trophy rear seat from the jetta in mine.   the base I mounted on a scriocco 2 frame.   the rear I mounted to a piece of wood which was carpeted.   I had to cut about 5 inches from the bottom of the back because it stuck up too high.    It looked really good when it was done….. even had the arm rest that worked.

It was however a pain in the ass.
