Camber adjustment

I have just had the motor put on coilovers, and the wheels are now facing in

ie    /       \

i have took it to the garage and he told me that i need to get some rods that fix on and then they can be adjusted back out. Do i need to get some rods or can they just be adjusted on the standard ones?

Help would be really appreciated as my tyres are already wearing down :(

regards Dan

rods?

Camber is adjusted using the camber bolts.

best advice is go to a different garage. i can only assume he is talking about track rods or something which have nothing to do with camber adjustment.

Maybe he's found that your track rod(s) are seized, and can't find a supplier. Do you mean tracking or camber?

yes, find out if he is talking about your camber bolts. they do wear.

If your wheels anre like you describe  / \   then that is the camber.  there are 2 eccentric bolts at the bottom of the coilover strut that control the camber.  You have lowered the car so the wishbones have changed angle.  You need to jack the car up and put the weight on axle stands to adjust the camber.  If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself then go to a garage - if you are then there is a really good guide on here somewhere…i'll have a search

Found it…

If you haven't got caliper gauges like these you can buy cheap electronic ones and a length of metal (again the guide to making that is on here too but haven't got the time to find it now)

……if you're looking at the car head on! If you're looking at it from above, that would be tracking. If you adjust camber you need to re-check and adjust tracking anyway, so they're kinda both linked.

Yeah he's right on that, I presumed you meant looking at the car head-on
