Cabriolet and exhaust problem

Will normal 1.6 exhaust fit with 1.8i engine?
Is there any differences in downpipe?

should fit mate, im using the mk2 1800 carb head and running the mk2 golf gti manifold and downpipe,

damn… im having problem with it.
downpipe hits to gear change mechanism and i cant get flange closed.
what could be the reason?

any ideas?
Im asking this because im having few problems with it, exhaust manifold wont fit perfectly to pipe.
There is about 10mm loose at drivers side and another side fits fine.
