brake servo

hi all,

I've just won bidding on a mk2 16v servo, so i can begin the modification. It comes with the MC aswell, but i might buy a brand new one of those so i can make sure i get the 22.2mm version (incase the one i get is the 22mm)… is there any difference?

Anyway, i got bit carried away with the bidding, and in total i'm going to be paying 64quid… have i just done something silly? i waited till the last 14seconds. before that it was already up to 62quid.

I bidded cause after I called AwesomeGti, they quoted me almost 400quid for the parts and to fit them… i'm assuming i can do it myself right?

My uncle owns a garage, so anyone want to explain to me step by step on how to do it? i've read an article before but as i'm not a mechanic, hopefully theres a simpler version. MY uncles always busy with MOTs, so i can't rely on him to do it all, but i will be supervised in my endevours..

The modification i'm doing is just the MC and servo upgrade…

step by step no, but this should help.

unscrew brake pipes, and undo master cylinder and remove.   Then unclip brake bar pin.  Then remove brakemaster bracket (3 nuts) from inside car.  Remove brake servo bracket and servo together.  notice how return spring is located for refitment with new servo.  replace servo and then refit (the spring is an absolute bugger, but ok if u remove bracket and servo together), bending brake pipes into place carefully, with your hands.  Follow faq on servo mod, but basically u need to cut it with a saw enough so u can fit u clamp on from mk1 servo and still fit the pin in.
