Brake servo and m/c upgrade

Hi, Ive got a 1983 Golf driver, i'm currently converting to 16v kr. Ive almost done painting the engine bay with a fresh coat of paint after relocating the o/s engine mounting and nearly ready for attacking the brakes. I want to upgrade the servo and master cylinder to Mk2 golf 16v. I have read a couple of the threads and been told various posssible combinations of set up. Just wondering which is the best to buy as i'm not certain exactly to be honest what to buy. Ive been told any mk2 servo will do because they are all the same apparantly, and its the master cylinder that varies between models.

Where would the best place to buy from and I know that its risky but would I be better to steer clear of second hand items?

 Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Kris

late 16v m/c and servo is what most seem to use. early m/c can be used but has only two outlets, hence recommending the late one.

Yes you can use any mk2 servo but the late 16v one is the monster 9 incher
that u want but you may strugle to find one as there getting rare and
the ones u do find people want silly money for. you will be better of
finding a passat of simiarly age to mk2 golf in a scrap yard which there
should be measure the servo to check it is 9 inch then have a look
at the brake peddle if its metal your good to go if its plastic find another.

Once you have found your servo if the mc fitted is looking a bit old try and find one
off a large seat (there will be plenty of them) its quite easy to tell which will fit
the largest i found was 23mm which is big 22mm will be fine you can tell what
size it is as it should have it stamped on the side.

That want i did and it cost me £15 for both just make sure if u split the mc from
servo replace the seal on the back of the mc
