after a bit of advice.
i have a mk1 obviously, 1.8 karmann clipper. i got rid of the pierbeurg car and have been running on a weber 32/34. its been great and performance also. idealy id love to run it on twin webers but am finding them hard to come by second hand as they are a tad bit pricey for me at the moment,
so was thinking along the lines of bike carbs. what do you think? stick with the weber or change to bike carbs? i know i need to change the inlet manifold, seperate fuel pump and so on. just wondering what other people preference are on them?
spotted these on ebay. they are local to me and cheap at the moment and wondered if they are any good?

If you just want them thats fine but they wont be bringing anything to the party, its also very hot and tight for space at the rear of the 8 v engine.

Decided to leave it for now. Other issues to sort out now. It would be tight but doable. And would wrap the exhaust to help. But might hold off and think of other things to do. Ive seen a r32 engine in a mk2 golf. Whats the odds of one fitting in a mk1?

Its been done so its possible but i think they are really too heavy to be stuck up the front of a mk1, put it behind the front seats for some nice traction.

if you go down the twin weber route you only really need a set of 40's not 45's which is about half the price on ebay. the manifold's come up second hand form time to time so if your lucky webers and manifold for £200 ish. which aint bad. if you can find some webers with the right chokes and emulsion tubes already in them then you will save more money. The fit is tight so just try to find a set that already has short ram pipes to keep the cost down.

Twin 40s … I brought the whole lot for 400 with filters pump cables manifold regulator everything set up for a 2.0 l. Now I'm torn between a 2.0 16v rotrex or 8v agg with g60 head and 40s . I'm feeling the rotrex . could sell the carb setup.

Any twin carb setup on an 8v will be difficult to set up due to the restriction placed by the fire wall.
If your after power, forget the carbs and r32 idea and go for the tried and tested 20V turbo engine conversion.

Projekt Frustration :
White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.
