Bike Carbs on a 1.8 Clipper, help please.

Hello,

I am new here (great site by the way) and have just bought a 1990 Clipper with Ronal Turbos and a few other bits (pics to follow), but have unfortunately already found out that the standard carb is total S H I T E. I have read a thread on here about bike carbs fitted to a 1.3, but can this be done on a 1.8 clipper? If so which ones do I need to go for? It seems from the other thread that Bogg Bros can fabricate a manifold, but anyone know who could fit and set them up?

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Simon.

when i was looking into it, the manifold can be made for about 160ish, well for my engine anyway, and for 235 bogg brothers were going to strip clean rejet and supply all hoses to fit on ready, then they advise you to go and do a rolling road session with them wich is 60pounds
all i know at the minute, because i never actually got round to doing it, i just bought a gt engine with the carbs and manifolds all complete.

another5 place who makes manifolds is altis engineering 07890591618
havent got the number for bog brothers, they have a website search google for it.

Thanks for the swift reply simon, so I will be able to fit R6 carbs to a 1.8 clipper if I get a custom Bogg Bros manifold made up?

Cheers,

Simon.

Carbs

Will do, the ones I bought are race tuned and made 114bhp at the rear wheel on the R6, so should be good enough for a 1.8 clipper, hopefully?

Will keep you informed though, as if they fit it seems like a top mod!

will they be big enough for an 1800? if you were buying twin carbs they woulb be at least a 40 or 45 mm.

I am not sure, if they are re-jetted, they may be ok? I will let you know 100% either way tomorrow though.

Bike carbs don't tend to be that big. As long as the chokes are around 36 to 38mm, you should be OK.
The carbs I have are 38mm at their narrowest point.

Unfortunately, R6 carbs are no good for a 1.8 engine, I need R1 carbs apparently, but then they should be sweet and gain about 15 - 20bhp!
