Bike carbs (not vw but need help)

Sorry people this might be in the wrong section, I saw a lad on here putting the same carbs in his mk1.

I need some help if anyone can suggest anything, I have a c20xe engine (redtop) from a vauxhall which I want to put carbs on…

I purchased some carbs from a member off astra-mk2.com.

I have some issues though, Firstly do the carbs need water cooling?

There are quiet a few nipples, which have no pipes?

This plastic piece is broken (does anyone no where i could get a replacement) or what its used for? I think its a fuel return maybe?

this sensor here has been chopped (i think its a throttle position sensor) can anyone confirm and do i need it?

This inlet came from bogg bros but is a very tight squeeze (it doesn't line up)

Does it matter that the inlet doesn't tilt upwards? Most I look at tip upwards?

Sorry for all the questions people, I could really do with some help with these.

I have no idea about bike carbs.

Not a particularly straight forward conversion if you don't know much about carbs!

I can try and answer some of your questions…

The angle of the carbs does not have to be spot on, though you should try and get it as close to how they sat on the bike, so that the fuel level sits right inside the chamber. If it doesn't sit right, the floats that shut off the supply might act too early, or not at all. They are fairly forgiving - think about the angles a bike goes through when ridden!

The piece on the end does look like a throttle pos sensor. You will only need that if running electronic management that needs a TPS.
Some take manifold pressure readings instead. If you are running a dizzy, you probably don't need either.

The manifold looks a little out of line, but if you can get the tubes on and clamp it securely, it should be fine.

Some carbs do have water cooling, but it might not be necessary. Can't tell by the pics, though those "nipples" might not be nipples. Some might be blocked up, some might hold adjustment screws.

The broken plastic bit might be your main fuel inlet looking at the size of the pipe? Take the covers off the carb and blow down it and see if you can tell if the air is going into the fuel chamber or elsewhere.

If in doubt, take it to a bike shop and ask if you can speak with a mechanic. I did that at the local "Busters" and they guy was really helpful.

Hope that helps a bit.
