Best brake upgrade possible???!!!
So, I got an '83 tin top GTI. Already put grooved discs and better pads on and although better then before, they're still not great brakes. What I really want to know is what is the best possible set up I can fit considering I eventually want to fit 13" rims??
I was considering MK3 GTI callipers and necessary adaptors etc with braided hoses and some nice, fast road pads. As I don't think i'll ever bother with rear disc conversion I want the sharpest most effective set up on front.
Suggestion pleeeeease.

In Dorset, a "technical" usually involves bailer twine and a lump hammer…….

16v servo and master cylinder is a very good and popular conversion. braded brake hoses are not a bad idea and if need be, you can get uprated calipers from places like rallydesign. discs and pads really depend on how you will mostly be driving the car.
or leave them as standard and live life on the edge a little

Can't go any bigger than the std 239's if you want 13's
Bearing that in mind you'll want 16v master cylinder and mk2 servo with braided hoses. bout as good as you'll get

You can do a remote servos (two, one for each brake circuit on a mk1), normally they are used on kit cars.
No idea how effective they are…I would have thought more people would do it was worth it. Bear in mind it would need a master cylinder direct off the pedal (ie proper pedal box). Plus it needs vac feed from intake still…
