the only reason why i wontsee them fitting as they wont be bigger enough to clear the brakes on the front. but saying that im rolling on 14" jetta stealies whilst mt ats's are being diamond cuttedand refurbd    will be getting them back on thursday so i will let you know if they fit on mine,
(i have the mk1 1300 golf with gti brakes upfront)

otyher then that, same bolt pattern etc so dnt see why not!

Brake caliper clearence is your only issue. It depends what offset the wheels are I believe. The lower the offset (The more the wheel sticks out) the less likely it is to be a problem...

I think originals are 5.5x13

Cant see any reason why the ATS's wont fit then, so long as you havent increased your brake disc size. I remember seeing a set of these on a mk1 at a scrappy years ago, wish i had got them then only they werent really en vouge at the time. They deffo are now. I would take the plunge mate.

i thought maybe the width of the wheel could be a problem thats all, and remembering what someone had told me 6 months back, he had them on a 1.3, and i commented that i liked them, and he mentioned they didnt fit gtis (never asked why though :banghead: )

I suppose it might be the offset he was worried about. Do you know what offset they are.
Im sure they should be ok. Is it not possible for you to try them first. :D

Its not the width - it is the design of the wheel itself.
Even though they are 13" like the nine spoke you would expect to see, the actual diameter of internal space (around the caliper) could be slightly smaller  causing the wheel to touch the caliper body. Also some wheels, the shape of the spokes on the mount face of the wheel can cause problems with caliper clearence, which is where offset comes into play…

It is more than likely that they will fit, but I would want to "Try before you Buy" if I was you…

Yes.

I've fitted 7 X 13 ATS classics to a GTI before. The calipers come close but not too close! The offset i think was either 25 or 28? If you look at classics they actually bow out the way so clearance isn't an issue with regard to the offset and caliper distance.
