Advantages of moving Brake Servo
Looking into moving my brake servo to directly infront of the pedal box. Just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of this are?
Got a 1.6 clipper and it's going to have a weber 32/34 on so there should be enough room for the brake servo.

Hi mate never done this myself but i do knw braking effciency shud b greatly increased as the majority of braking is lost throught the braking bar that transfers the pedal input across the bulkhead to the servo let us knw hw u get on is there enugh rm to fit it above the pedal box?

Apart from maybe looks i see no real advantage, its possible to lock the front brakes on a standard mk1, thats as good as can be. Also this side of the car was never designed for loading, look how easy the clutch cable pulls through.

I thought the Great Vowel Shortage of the 1860s in Wales (when the French stole them all) was over?

So without strengthening the bulkhead it's probably not a good idea?
The further I read around the more I think that I'm going to be okay with standard well up brakes; mines a 1.6 clipper and it's not going to be super powerful, and like you say I can already get her to lock up so it's not like i need MORE braking power?
So, in my situation, if I were to move the servo, it would almost certainly just be benifiting the looks, do you agree?

Anyway, I own a left hooker that doesn't have the linkage and the braking power, for a Mk1, is good.

You're thinking of the Great Vole Shortage where the french stole all our Voles and small waterside creatures and made saucison out of them.
Is a lot of power lost through the linkage system?

I guess any linkage system will take up a lot of energy but believe the original design flexes quite a bit. I think it was Autocavern who designed and sold a beefier set up

But going back to the original question, is there a big improvement in braking performance by moving the servo and getting rid of the linkage?

Wait for the Autocavan upgrade to appear on ebay . They keep popping up now and again ..Well worth the wait
