ABF on twin 40's which Distributor, Help Please.

Hi All

I am currently putting an ABF engine into my MK1 gti. When I baught the car it was running an 8v on twin 40's so i only have a carb loom and a coil. The project is going well with the engine in and only a few jobs left to do.
I am abit unsure of which distributor to use with the carb loom, can i use the ABF one with the coil or do i need to use a 205 gti one with vacuum advance.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Martin

Would have thought the kr dizzy with the other kr  spark producing parts would be the way forward.

Thank you for your fast reply, I forgot to mention that I don't have any of the loom from the abf (Just the carb loom) but i do have the abf dizzy. Would I need a KR loom and ECU to produce the ignition advance required?

As far as i remember you dont want any of the abf loom if youre not using the abf ecu, and so yes kr dizzy, wiring, ecu (even though its not actually a real ecu) and associated parts.

yeah abf dizzy is single trigger window and so no good. use abf dizzy cap with kr dizzy fitted 180degrees out, leads rotated to match. you'll need an 8v mk2 king lead most liekly but its better than hacking up dizzy cap or have the kr cap smashed up by the brake master cylinder/pipes.

you'll also need a mk2 golf coil as the mk1 unit will have an incompatible lead fitting

Sounds good. Can i run this from the carb loom that i have in the car atm or do i need to use the kr loom to run the dizzy?

Thanks for your help.

you still need the kr ignition loom, but thats it. only thing is if the car had points ignition before you need to cut out the old coil + resistor wire and add your own proper ign live feed from the fusebox/bay.  you can bin the old black wire from starter to coil too this is no longer required.

this is how you wire it up, couldnt be easier:

1 - Earth to battery -ve
2 - KR ign controller plug
3 - TCI-H plug
4 - Black - KR ign controller & TCI-H ign live - terminal 15 side of coil
5 - Green - Coil trigger - terminal 1 side of coil
\- red/black - spade is for the isv control unit, the main wire is the rev counter feed
6 - Brown - Earth to cylinder head
7 - Blue/white - Temp sensor feed (use one of the 3 on the side of the head)
8 - Dizzy plug
9 - red/yellow - Fuel pump relay earth trigger
\- black/yellow - idle switch feed (12v feed with throttle shut)
