ABF into an 89 1.8 clipper carb. A few wiring questions

Hi guys, I just cant stop spending money on my clipper. :banghead:   The time has come for an engine conversion and ive chosen an abf as a suitable donor.

However Ive been crawling through loads of posts and cant find the info im looking for.

Basically if i want to put an abf into my carb, what will i need to do that different to the normal guide?

Aren't the fuel pipes already in the right place on the carb?  Can i get away with using the carb fuel pump and piping?

As for the wiring im completely lost other than i know id like to use the efi for the abf.  Any help appreciated.

Don't PM me - I don't know! I did GTI to 9A (retaining K-Jet) so didn't have to mess about with the fuel system. Essentially, you'll need to add an electric fuel pump - I think Ben's got it about right - use the GTI stuff.

you dont need to change the fuel tank or lines.
you will need another fuel pump, e.g facet red top
you wont be able to run the abf with your crappy pierburg carb so chuck it.

you need to get in touch with emerald and fork out ?500 for their new k3 standalone ecu as its the quickest, simplest and most reliable way, all the sensors on the abf will plug straight into the k3 and they will supply you with a base map to get you going.
if you dont understand any of this your probably not qualified to do the conversion and need to educate yourself a bit more, sooo many people think they can quickly do an engine swap and end up with a box load of bits on ebay and a stranded car.
not saying this is you, just offering my advice as im doing the same conversion

what they fail to tell you is all the other bits you need like loom plug sensors ect ect comes in close to a grand m8

i priced one up last year just out of interest to see how cheap it could be done

oh plus ?400 rr session 8O

i was thinking on running the ecu and loom (interior and engine side) and since my car has almost no electronics currently, should make it a little easier as long as i can get one labelled (no chance  :D ).

ahem!  its like 80 pound an hour.  When we did my friends vr on motec it took about an hour.  On my fezzy turbo again between 1 and 2 hours.  anyway if it has a base map shouldnt take longer

Yeah i even had a spare pierburg :) so now i have two.  Pile of junk.

Installed webber, in little over an hour taking my time in snow, and was running great after just a little adjustment of idle.  Dont like the airbox bracket for the screw though, seems to get in the way of the throttle flaps.
