ABF Exhaust

Post

I've seen many threads that discuss this but all its done is made me doubt what is best route for and exhaust manifold for an ABF conversion? Does the SS conversion manifold fit or not?

Depends on lots of things ive tried 4 different ones on mine, and all of them needed modifying in some sort of way! but then ive heard other people have no problems at all! in the end i had one made from scratch!

When you say you've fitted 4, why did none of them fit? Do they void on the body or the gear linkage? I've got both cable and rod shift boxes that can go in depending if it makes any difference?

Yeah some rubbed on the steering rack and some on the linkage bracket, but its one of those things you need to try it on yours to found out, you might be fine!O_o

this is a nightmare…..
ive fitted an abf in my sportline, im using a dubpower manifold.. fitted and needed a slight tweek but thats easier said than done…!!!
i suggest getting engine in then take car to exhaust specialist to tweek for you…
this is my next step as taking just manifold has proven useless…
the dubpower manifold is very good quality by the way..
cheers

just to give a little more info….
my dubpower manifold was a little close to steering rack boot…( common cause of fire when doing this conversion)
took manifold to local exhaust manufacturer and asked them to alter by 5mm explained what and why…
they then fudged it up and altered it by 40mm causing manifold to rub drive shaft.
returned to exhaust specialist they appologised and re altered  but still not right…
paid them another visit they adjusted again but it now catches on lower strut brace…
taking whole car to them once i get engine started…
would reccomend the dubpower  manifold just not getting it altered by idiots.. ha ha
cheers

I just got one it,s fitting okay, however the link pipe does not fit myJetex exhaust what did you do with yours, do you have to weld it on? also the flange on the link pipe has an angle on the end, straight would seem better.

Take my words seriously here.

Keep the s/s manifold away from the steering rack! I had one on fire!

If you search 16v resolved you should find my old thread on what I did to resolve it, or look for my recent build thread.
