Just some are mounted longitudinal and others are mounted transversaly?!
Unsure about the 3A - I think this is the Audi 2.0l 8V (but not sure). The 6A is definitely the Audi 2.0l 16V and its ancillaries (manifolds, oil filter housing, probably other stuff) is all designed for longitudinal, so needs to be swapped with a KR/9A/your existing engine's stuff. The 9A is transverse 2.0l 16V as found in Passat/Corrados, you still need to swap some items over such as engine mounts, then there's lots of variations on water pump, removing power steering pump, oil filter, oil cooler (oil-water-air or oil-air?), etc. Bear in mind a 9A is a KE-Jet car, so you'd need to source a K-Jet 16V ECU and loom to do the conversion with.

Is the 3A not the 8V block? Like the 2E etc..
Or can the 2.0L bottom ends be mix and matched? I had 'assumed' there was a reason noone did, like dif water ways or something?
Have a butcher through these two FAQ 2.0L 8V guides on CGTI:

The 3a it is then. The agg and others are all taller than the 3a and I am after a simple swap.
Thanks for yours and paul_c's advice.
Speak to you guys again soon. Maybe get a picture of the motor up when its finished?!

The 3A is the audi 2l 8v bubble block which you'll need alot of luck to find as its mega rare now. Sorry to give you bad news. Just put a 9A in much more bang for buck and not a hard converstion at all.

Rich
