a little info about anti lag & megasquirt please

hi all
 
Im guna be atempting to turbo a g40 lump but i want to run anti lag with it and i wanted to no firstley how does anti lag work? I no it changes the ignition timing but im not quit sure how it all works

Secondly can anti lag be used with mega squirt?

Any info work be greatley appriciated.

Anti-lag is a system which retards the ignition loads (like 50-60 degrees) during gear changes, which results in the mixture firing while the exhaust valve is open. This produces no power but does product a distinctive "pop" (loud) and flames from the exuast system, too. What its for, is to keep the turbo spinning quickly instead of slowing down, so there is no lag once you go into the next gear. It was an innovation of turbo rally cars and I'm not sure if its even road legal, or anything. I know it severely wears out the turbo and burns up the exhaust system, manifold, etc - okay for a rally car but not ideal on a road car.

Implementable in megasquirt  :dontknow:   Possibly not, because you'd need additional inputs to know when to apply it (ie during gearchanges up, under power) and have a piece of code which switched to the retarded ignition and probably also altered the fuelling in some way or other too.

nice one for that paul you seem to no your (excuse the language) sh!t i new roughly how it worked and i no its illegal to use on the roads but hey that all adds to the fun lol. and you are correct about how anti lame about was divised for the old group b cars i think the first was on the 205 t16 not 100 o/o though

next question is which ecu will have the neccessary inputs and software available to run anti lag?

or would it be easy to leave the charger on nd turbo it would i need to lower the compression raion down even more?

the turbo ware doesn't bother me as i have now found a bloke round the corner from me who scraps cars but keeps them on a farm till the price of scrap is good i asked him if i could buy scrap golf gti's and passat turbos anything with 20valve turbo engines in off of him to strip and he said i could take what i wanted if i give him the shell back to scrap. so can get ahold of the turbo's pretty cheaply.

i think you can antilag with megasquirt, you have a switch behind the clutch arm which acts to say "not in gear". MS then checks TPS and sees thats getting full current and knows your in antilag mode. I was fiddling with it on my car, but other than for a bit of a laugh found no need for it on the small turbo's!
