8v gearbox on a 16v engine
is this possible to use the 8v gearbox with the 16v kr engine out of a corrade.
i am thinking of changing the flywheel, would this do?

i know the mk2 8v box fits mk2 16v ….makes slight quicker take off…but will rev slightly higher at motorway speeds…so ive been told..not 100% sure as im no mechanic

there are two sizes of input shaft the early ones are smaller 8v etc, the 16v has the fat shaft and some late 8v cars, as vw used the box for years, even in the A3 and stuff, so check your clutch fits the box before installing, I had an 8v box on a 16v it was ok but the 16v box also has 100mm output flanges the 8v has 90mm apart from the cabby which has big 100mm flanges, on the later 8v boxes, sorry if this is a little confusing( blame vw) lol
