3a block pistons

I am rebuilding a 3a engine to go in my mk1 and have a knackered piston. Do any pistons from another engine fit? Or does anyone know where to get one from a new one is ?150!!!!!

Where have you tried looking? ?150 seems quite a lot for a piston but then, its tricky to get a key on the price of these things at times - its not like I'm swapping pistons day-to-day. I guess finding a new (or better) engine is out of the question, they're quite rare/desirable now.

I'd be trying yellow pages etc in your area, and engine reconditioners etc.

i have rung volkswagenspares.com they were the only people i could find online who could get them gsf was no help and i don't know anymore.

i paid 150 per piston for one off custom designed forged pistons, i'd keep looking if i were you

when my mate got his 9A rebuilt he paid 360 for the set, so 90 each

where did he get them from? i was really after a second hand one but am new to vw's so don't know where to look.

just our local engine shop, as paul said, have a look in the yellow pages etc.

Hi i bought a set of pistons for a 1.8 dx block being bored and stroked to 2.0 think thet might be the same as for 3a bubble block
anyway i paid 300 from c&r enterprises about a year ago
