does the 2.0 8v fit straight into a mk1 golf just the same as a 1.8 does?

I've got one too! lol!
I got a 14.6 at Santa Pod. I'm having it rolling roaded on the 26th! I've got he standard 1.8 box. I was thinking about a 1.6 GTI box but i'm really after a limited slip diff!

ay up mr v. this is hot-dub from pvw forum. are any of you using the tall block? do you think id have clearance issues using the tall block and running bike carbs? im torn between the 2.0 8v and the 16v! what bhp does the tall block have as standard?

It's all about the head work boys!
Mine's the short block 3A. The 2.0s run 115bhp in standard form, apart from the 3A which is 113bhp.
Matt, you've got a PM
de3660, mines got a TSR pack D head with a 308 cam. It's also got a 1.6GTI metering head, 4 branch and system, k&n, 5 cyl WUR, 5 cyl throttle body and honed out manifold. It's fully balanced '3A' with a reconditioned standard '7A' gearbox. It's being rolling roaded on the 26th(see national meets section if you're interested), so watch this space
I'm after a limited slip diff. I'll have the flywheel lightened before my next run at Pod too.

I'm running a tsr head too but on a tall block 2e (ex passat block) pack c head 202 cam and lightened flywheel which i have to say make the engine rev up really nice .Had mine on the rollers at tsr before my trip to the ring , got 155 bhp but no torque figures as its only a single roller down there and ive heard their bhp readings can be abit optimistic . Really want a lsd but thought sorting out which gearbox too use first would be a good idea , i dont need the hassel of swapping diffs about.

How deep are the bike carbs and i'll have a quick measure but i think you would have some major clearance issues unless you used a crossflow 8v head off a new beetle and that needs abit of modifying to fit a 2e block . Had to cut into the front scuttle just to clear a standard throttle body.

I have a spare on of those too! If you fancy it, i could have a word with my engines man and see how much it'll cost to get it lightened? It's just very heavy so i'm not too sure how much it'll cost to p&p? But obviously it'll be a lot lighter than standard do it might not be an issue. Let me know if you want it.Jon-Boy said
