20vt wont start with mega squirt

Hi people, i know what your thinking not another 20v question lol I really need some help ive bin doing battle with the wiring for my 20v conversion into my mk1 for the past two weeks and finally put it in the other day but she would only turn over and not fire up! im using mega squirt 2 extra and need to no if i need the ignition amplifier module? ive just by passed the connection for this as a mate who used to work for vw said i might not need it caus th ecu has built in ignitors, the ecu has had 4 ignitors built into it and will be running wasted spark. Im also a little unsure about the where the fuel pump wire from the ecu is surpossed to go, been reading loads bt no deffinitive answer found! Im not the worlds best sparky and i think ive done everytrhing else right, not sure what else to try and its really gettin me down now  :(  any help would be much appreciated many thanks Andy

hi, what you can do it to check to see if you have any sparks from the plugs. megasquirt has the ability to run a test on the ignition in its advanced settings in tunerstudio. i would take take the plugs out and see if they spark. engine doesnt need to be running for this.

also make sure your trigger angle is setup correct or have it fixed at say 10deg just to get it started and no more. tooth #1 angle btdc i think is 84.

have you got the required fuel value setup?

squirts per engine cycle = 2

also fuel pump cable from the ms goes to a relay where you splice that into the fp wire in the fusebox. the ms earths earths the relay so you would need +12v for the fuel pump and 12+ to the relay for the ms to earth it, if that makes sence!

something similar to this diagram but its for an igition coil and not wasted spark

hope that helps!
