20vt standard conversion??
hi would it be worth while doing a non qpeng/megasquirt 1.8 20vt conversion as theres no way i could afford/justify spending the money on the ecu,is it hard to just install an original ecu? do i need the clocks and keys too? cheers guys :wink:

I believe you can get the original ECUs immobilsers chipped/defeated now?

megasquirt is only £350 if you cant afford that then i wouldnt atempt the conversion you need at least 1k for bits and pieces

lol, so true.
One of the first designadubs (long gone, they were utter jank) 20vt converions had a smashed up clocks with ignition barrel and key taped to it, stuffed up behind the mk1 dashboard to get round immobiliser issue.
Lets just say it wasn't the the most refined of installations.

i use original ECU and loom on my conversation without any prop. you can find people on ebay who can remove immo :wink:

It can be a problem to get round the immobilser, if your planning on changing boost etc stand alone management is cheaper in the long run (and more fun)
