2.0 TDI Conversion

Anyone put a 1.9 tdi or 2.0 into a mk1?

In the process of building a tarmac rally car, and am debating a change of plans from the 2.0 16v 9a i am currently building.

There are some very obvious difficulties, but i wondered if anyone could give me some pointers as to excactly what i will have to engineer to make it fit.

Cheers

I think Bert on the forum put a 1.9 TDi (AAZ) into his mk1, he may pop his head in if you're lucky.

Wooders,my head is cool

Ive gone AAZ for simplicity to be honest, they are good fun when mated with a garrett T3

A Pd would be good fun, especially a 130 bhp,the 1.9 is a more common PD as they are older,my passat 130 is quick and thats a heavy motor compared to the mk1,

Cheer guys

Did you find many problems doing it mate?

The intention is to pump it up to around 200 brake without doing too much internally and put the shell on a diet

No problems doing it,straight foward, but if you go PD remember the fuel pump in the tank to feed the engine and the immobiliser built into the ECU and all the electrics to go with it,if you get an engine make shure you get all the associated bits too,IE LOOM,KEY ETC

Cheers mate.

Probably going to build a custom ecu, depends on how much time i have on my hands.

Are you running standard drive shafts?  I have my doubts if they could take the torque.
