2.0 ltr Mk1 Conversion HELP!!

Hi everyone..new to the site today, but a VW nut for years…
I am about to begin a 2.0e engine swap into my 1991 Mk1 Golf Clipper.
It presently has the 1800cc carb engine with a weber.
It runs beautifully, 124k, no leaks, not a drop, pulls well etc etc..
Anyone whos done this conversion, I need a step by step guide please.

I need to know everything I need ?, pitfalls ?, blanking plates ? etc etc…all relevant info basically…I think I have all the necessary parts, but want a veteran of this swap to just reassure me I'm doing it right…basically because I can't afford to mess it up!!

I want to build a complete 2.0 engine, mated to gearbox on the stand before I put it in, so I can have my 1800 complete engine/gearbox reconned and have as standby for later years…

So…heres what I have, do I need anything else ?
  1. Full 2.0e bottom end.
  2. 2.0 Distributor
  3. Gearbox from a GTi
  4. Fully re-con 1800 head (carb) - exactly as per my current one.

Would really appreciate any help anyone can offer, better still if anyone knows of someone local to Peterborough who might want to fit this for pound notes….im all ears!
Thanks Guys
