16v starts but dies. GRRRrrr..

Ok guys, almost there but have a weird problem.   I am using the mk1 aav setup.

Basically car starts, but wont idle.  If i catch it quick i can rev it up, as soon as i let go of throttle it dies.  At the beginning, if i used the throttle it died.

Very frustrating.  Im wondering maybe its how i connected the vaccum pipe.  I have one going from brake servo pipe to ecu.  Is this right?

This isn't right, the ECU does have a vacuum connection but it should be connected to the other side of the non-return valve, ie so it actually gets a true reading of the pressure in the inlet manifold, not the accumulated vacuum in the servo.

Once this is sorted (should be somewhere to take another vacuum connection off, otherwise T pieces) then see how it goes, you may need to adjust timing and mixture again to re-adjust out any adjustments which offset the incorrect setup previously.

no thats right, i have a t after the one way valve.

Does anyone have any pics of the fuel pipes coming out of side of metering unit, just want to confirm i have the pipes the right way round.  Definately an idle issue.  Any suggestions guys?

I'm 90% sure the fuel connections are impossible to get wrong, since the connections to-from the WUR are different.

I have heard that before, but on mine  you can fit them anywhere.  ill go take some pics

On the metering head, one is an olive fitting and one is a female thread. On the WUR, they are different sizes. I suppose the 5th injector and main fuel injectors can be mixed up. I think the fuel return is a larger olive than the others. And if the main fuel feed was wrong, then it would not start or run at all?

got it sorted, was a damaged fuel pipe from fuel filter.  have bypassed for time being.  she sounds amazing.  runs badly on light throttle. needs a good rev.
 :P
now to put everything back together
