16 v engine - 020 clutch

hi guys, just wondering if you can help me with a little problem i have,

i am rebuilding a kr 1800 lump and mating it to 020 gear box i have decided to replace the clutch and release plate, so i went on ebay and purchased one, it stated it was for a 1600 GTI so i thought all was well,

last night i went to offer it up and discovered it was the 190mm clutch and release plate for a 020 4 speed box, as 5 speed ones are 200mm,  :banghead:

so my question is can i use my new clutch and release plate on my gearbox beeing it 10mm smaller, will clutch slip etc with it been smaller etc,  :?

regards adrian

5 speed 020 for 16V is 210mm same as for 1.8 GTI and later 1.8 on MK3 golf's.

2.0 16V

You were sold wrongly advertised goods, send it back for the right part. Input shaft should be a 22mm, clutch should be 200 or 210, thats down to the flywheel. I think its 200 as i have a 210 for my 1.8T now and in my 1600 gti it looked like it was runnning 200. But like i say the clutch size can be changing with the flywheel if needs be.

With thanks Eddie-Toyotec, Ben-Bens_cab, Brian-Broke and the Mk1 Owners Club! 211Bhp, should get 250 on next map!
