1300 conversion to 1800 lump

Hi guys ,

Any tips on good solid mods to an 1800 carb fed lump ? I have a std 1300 ,'91 MK1 and would like to breathe some new life into it again. I have a set of 40 side draught webers with intake for now and think what lump to go with . My forst choice would a 1800 but need advice on cylinder head mods (not too drastic though) , engine bay mods etc. I also have to purchase a good 5 speed gbox to replace the 4 speed one i have at the moment.
Any inputs will be appreciated guys.

I'm confused what you have - where are you from? UK? They never did a Mk1 with a 1300cc engine in 1991.

Have you bougt carburettors but not the engine?

Not worth messing around with the cylinder head on an 1800 carb, for the same money you could be looking at trading your car in and buying a decent GTI.

Can't really advise much more on the hassles you might encounter with an engine conversion until what you currently have, is clarified….
