1.8t conversion rad choices

Hi all is the any other options bar 2L 16v? It seems to small in comparison the original mk4. It's going to be used for track days so need to maximise cooling. I have seen a couple on you tube fitted with full width rads but unknown what they are.

I seem to remember someone using a Mercedes Sprinter one but don't  quote me on that.

How about the MK2 GTI rad? I am using that one. Click my build thread for pics. :)

Cheers guys. The measurements for a mk2 rad seem to be the same as what I have but it's tiny compared to a mk4 one

Sorry for the slight hijack, do you know what the dimensions were for your rad?  I need one that the mounting lugs are 685mm apart and the height of ~326mm from top to bottom including the surround, or ~303mm finned area.

Cheers

Sprinter item is the intercooler not the rad.

You are using the Mk1 GTI rad.

im using the mk216v rad and its doing its job. in traffic never overheats nor driving normal or mad.  a mk1 golf gti is bigger so if you got the room fit that. or if you want bigger then custom job but not needed. im be using my also on track if it heats up a bit i fit a mk2 16v alloy rad

I think most go for either MK1 or 2 GTI rad tbh. Seems plenty big enough for the task. It is quite tight though especially if you have a decent sized intercooler.  :)
