1.8 16V conversion

Now Im sure theres someone on here that can tell me if there is an easier way to carry out this conversion rather than replacing the full wiring loom? Its going into what was previously a 1.6 diesel. Any ideas?  :dontknow:

 lol. Come on Jay, get on with it!
did you get loom you needed in the end?

QuickChick, i've got a FAQ on the mk1 16V conversion, email me if you want it. It doesnt cover conversion from Deisel, its biased towards going from a GTI base, but there is a bit on converting carbed mk1 to inj wiring, may or may not be any use.

good luck  :)

I would say fuel pump and lines etc would be more of a problem really. You woud only really need the limited ecu wiring and unit that only runs throught the engine bay for a KR 16v 1.8. Oil pressure, water temp etc you have already have. If your doing a later 2.0 ltr then it s a different story.
Good luck its like a jigsaw puzzle really. Are you using the 16v box, if so you will need cabrio driveshafts or late scirocco ones.

scuse my ignorance, but does that mean that the basic engine wiring loom (exlcuding the TCI part) is the same on all the mk1 engines? (so aires for thermo switch, aux air valve, pressure sensors, temp sensors, starter motor, coil etc.

Sorry, have only had GTis
