1.4 tsi on golf mk1

Hello,

I looked around the forum and I guess this is the only place that would help me on the web.

I have a 1.4 TSI engine out of a skoda superb and a golf mk1 and definitely going to swap it in.

I was wondering;

Has this been ever done before? I looked around for quite a bit but no results.

Where can I find a plug&play ECU for the tsi engine? Will it save me from all the wiring trouble?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Never seen it done before and I have never seen aftermarket ECU for it. To be honest though I see no reason why it's not possible but there is certainly nothing I have seen off the shelf to do what you want, so a lot of custom parts and fabrication will be needed. As far as the ECU goes you are probably better to run the standard management and get the ECU de-immobilised or if thats not possible run the transponder out of the key and wiring loom so the immobiliser works meaning effectively the engine still thinks its in the skoda.

Like I said though, not for the feint hearted, a lot of time and money especially if you can't do the fabrication yourself. It's a good little engine though I have heard.

I personally would rather go for the 1.8T or 2.0 ABF which I did!

Don't be put off though someone has to do it first! Plenty of help/advice to be had off here and various other forums. Give it a go if you think you can!

Storm Developments have developed an aftermarket ECU for 2.0TFSI, R36 and R32 engines, which are all FSI so will share many similarities with the 1.4TSI. They may also be able to do the immobiliser defeat to allow the use of the existing ECU. I've had a look around their website and can't find anything on the 1.4 engine though.
