1.3 to 1.8 carb engine.

Hey up. I've got a 1.3 cl and I've had a 1.8 big block carb engine in my garage for a while. The 1.3 is sounding abit tired now so i think its time t swap it. Other then move the engine mount on the drivers side. I wonder if i could get some advice on what i need to do, the engine code is GU its from a scirocco. I think it was used in Jetta and mk2 golfs also. I haven't got a box with it, so i was wondering what gearbox would fit.

Most likely any 020 box… They fit the 1.8 injection engines and have the same bolt pattern as the 02a and 02j(hydraulic clutch) … I'm not certain of this however… Maybe measure the distance between the gearbox bolt holes…

AS stated, youll need the g/box, 5 speed linkage, g/box mounting, driveshafts?? clutch cable?? and possibly the steering rack as it has the mounting for the gear change linkage.
