Yes, do a search. The GTi system has the same bore as the Polo GT.

I fitted my LSD at the weekend. It nearly took the car off the road at the first junction....

Im also interested in the GT engine conversion. What do you do with all the electrics and fuel supply?

Is it just a simple case of swapping the loom and ecu over?

(sorry to hi-jack the thread!)

Cheers,
Rob.

The installation is pretty easy. The fuel and exhaust system are the biggest issues. I've used the GTi tank as it has the swirl pot. I believe the GTi pump is suited to the GT engine. I have a prefilter bewteen the tank and pump to stop the crap getting through and jamming the pump. I used some plastic 8mm fuel pipe usually sold for commercial vehicles. Bright yellow, looks good under the car. I have the Polo pressure filter up at the front behind the drivers side headlight. There are really good push on connectors for the plastic fuel pipe so I can split the line in a few places. With the exhaust, I have the GTi system as it has the same bore as the Polo GT. If you use the standard manifold and downpipe, you will need to remove the cat as it doesn't fit in the steering rack. You then have to make a bridging pipe between the downpipe and system. I have the Polo radiator and a mk2 Golf expansion tank. Both fit onto the existing mk1 mounts. If you want an oil cooler, use the mk1 GTi rad with a GM sandwich plate, widely available on lots of FWD Gm's and has an integral thermostat. Get the pipe and ends from a local hydraulic sppler. The wiring only requires 6 connections to the existing loom, all of which can be done without cutting the mk1 loom. There is also power and GND into the injection system, but these come direct from the battery and are fused at the GT ECU. The fuel pump wiring needs to be run alongside the tank level sensor wires through the shell. The ecu switched live comes off the back of the fuse box using a female spade crimp.

This is my 5 speed mount. I used the original Polo mount with a big block bush which stops a lot of the engine movement. I've got to make something similar at the other end of the engine as it jumps around at the engine side now.

ok well im doing a write up about the g40 as i did the fuel system a bit differenty i used the gti syestym upto the filter then straigt braided pipes upto the pressure reg.

also for the wiring you can just change only 2 connectors to get it running   but a few more for senbsors and the like
