what you need is a late cab/scirocco injection lift pump, this fits in the top of the tank. then you hook this up to a suitable under car inhjection pump & lines matched to the injection system you will be using on the engine.

you might get away without, there is an access hole under the rear seat where you can remove the old sender and fit the lift pump. squeezing in the lines between the tank and body might be tricky mind.  16v pump is very big so you'll struggle to get it under there :(

what engine is it you were going to fit, and what managment?

I'm going 02J box off my mk3 vento TDI (better ratios) also hydro clutch (off vento)
For the little bit of extra work involved it'll be allot better in the long run, as the 1.8T cable clutch is supposedly heavy under foot.

If you do go cable clutch parts from seats are available. (the gearbox mounts in the caddy shop accept the cable or hydo clutch.

Engine and gear box mounts are available on the caddyforum shop.

We had a great Sticky post with all the info   Sadly gone  :| Working on it .

If you can use an 02j box with late Cabriolet or Scirocco 100mm drive shafts , as stated caddy forum will help with mounts . Its a more relaxed box for sprints and motorway cruising and reliable , use hydraulic clutch [easily adapted on the mk1 but no off the shelf kit ] and single mass clutch kit [all 1.8t used a dual mass flywheel] a kit is always for sale on Ebay .

Fuel use a GTI tank up to 1983 [still available form GSF] and your existing GTi 1.8 pump will be fine to 180HP . You will need flow and return as per original tank .

The Qpeng guys , Ben in particular will happily give free info over the phone ! Have you looked at their web site and printed off the conversion guide ?

Cheers ……………..

he hasnt got an existing GTI pump, its a 1.1 ;)

polo MK3 SPI/GT/G40 lines, reservoir and filter setup would work, but the fuel pump you want a GT/G40 one (same part number). It'll fit under the car nicely as its compact, lines are plastic too so wont rot, cant be far of right length either as polo about same size as a mk1.  Combine it with a late rocco/cab lifter pump which drops straight into your old tank and you're all set.

Not sure what BHP G40 pump is rated for though, must be prety high I'd guess?  If not pretty mcuh any good aftermarket pump will fit on as polo pump has push fit fittings either end.

MK1 GTI k-jet pump will work but you need the lines too which have threaded fittings, since they're metal and they're getting on a bit now so not so hard to get it all in good nick. crazyquiff does newuns off the shelf but quite expensive

i  think there are 4 pipes on my tank, are they just a breather, fuel in, fuel out and to the petrol cap?havnt had much time to investigate, got exams  :( , whats the resevoir do?are they cheap?thanks

yeah pretty much, the only lines you are interested in are the 2 to the level sender housing under the petrol flap :)
the reservoir stops the pump running dry on corners, recommended to fit it :)
