Ive been quoated ?40 an hour for welding befor is this over priced or am i looking at paying that every where?

depends on how much needs doing and much will be done in that hour? i could charge a pound an hour to wash your car and take a week to do it.

does it drive?

well heres the list

need 2 rear arches doing
rear lower panel
section of the wheel well

The car starts but ive never drove it so wouldent know how it drives.

ermmmm washing my car for ?1 an hour sounds good when can you start as i have 3 cars lol

i charge ?25-?30 an hour but i have no overheads so ?40 sound cheapish many charge more beware though there are alot of people who say they can do the job but working with 5mm plate and working with car panels is a totaly different ballgame especially old grotty car panels :mrgreen:  

its a pity your not closer as ime mobile but your miles away so ask if the person whos doing the job can show you pics/or a job they have done so you can check the quality of there work good luck with it 8)

Rear arches are a bit of a pain. Did these on my last Gti. A pro welder will be quicker of course, but I reckon 3-4 hours per side easy (if they're doing it right of course and not just plating over the grot). I think you'd need to get a quote for the job rather than by the hour. Someone who knows what they're doing should be able to say how long it will take them (?)

Mate I would give it a go 4 ya, but I have'nt welded for a while and would need some practicing?

When I hired that welder to do my front panel, the welder was crap!!!!
Whats your welder like? is it in good condition?

Then for doing your welding I could maybe borrow your welder to do little bits on my car in return??

OK matey, yeah I saw the filler, that is a lot of filler!!!!

has anyone used PROJECT VW in west sussex for any welding-bodywork?
just i gave them a ring today for a ruff quote and the bloke's ringing me back tomorrow
