winter!!!

HI, was wandering what you guys do with your beloved mk1s over the winter. Im stuck with the decision of paying out for a lock up and a cheap run around, to keep her safe for the winter, or risk it for a biscuit over the winter, and hope its not a snowy one, :) was wandering what other people do, as im new to this old car malarky, but have fallen in love so cant sell her

Im lucky that I have a double garage so its tucked away cosy for the winter.

I still use it thru the winter when the weather is nice and there is no salt around.

I wouldn't like to leave it outside up here in Scotland but there is good external covers available on the market now.

I live in snowy mountains, so I use mine whatever the weather (WITH snow tyres). Runs a treat - probably copes better in winter than in summer actually!

Shutz and wax oil ...... All day, any day.... My opinion is these cars are meant to be enjoyed all the time...... :D

The Cabrios only taxed May to Oct, so this year missed the 'summer' that happened in March. The GTI is usually taxed all year and gets the odd blast in winter if theres not to much grit on the road.

I'm lucky enough to have a double garage so they are tucked up out of the weather.

fortunate for me when i bought my first house 4 years ago which im still in the old boy that owned it had his daughter meet me and she said he had a mk1 and stored it in the garage so i knew one would fit, but i mean just! as you can see below, you can get a modern car in but you cant get out cos it not wide enough and you cant close the door as not deep enough lol, mine goes in there, under a car cover and on a trickle charge and i move it up and down the drive one a month to stop brakes siezing and also let it run up to temp
