Why I love the Golf !!! Lots of pics

Ok guys, here goes. The reasons why I?m a MK1 Golf nut!! My Dad owned a VW garage in Southampton for over 25 years, repairing all V.A.G vehicles. Being trained by VW in Germany, when he came to live here in the 60?s work was easy to find as VW?s were the technological equivalent of spaceships!!! Lol! Hard to believe, I know??

I was always in the garage getting dirty ( or in the way! ) so cars have always been in the blood, I used to be a Ford fan but you grow out of these things, although I do still miss my MK2 RS2000.

I met a few celebrities at the garage over the years including the legend Kris Akabussi (go on! WHO???? ) and also her Majesty the Queens personal physician who owned a cabriolet for many years and would not let anyone else touch it (he would send a car to collect my dad!!) Some people got too much money!!!! Anyway being a keen rally driver in Minis, Escorts, Etc, of all the cars my Dad rallied whilst in business, I really liked the Golf, and it always stuck in my mind to have one. First car I ever drove was an immaculate 1.5 silver GX owned by the parents and I ROLLED IT!!!! R.I.P xxx

Had a 1.1 Golf many moons ago and not owned one till 2 years ago when my dad and I decided to play around with another Golf together if I could find one, unfortunately he passed away a week before I collected it. As it would happen when I got it home and went to reverse it onto the driveway, it had NO REVERSE!! Even I had to see the funny side of that, and I?ve been tinkering with it ever since with help from all you guys at the club. Really enjoy the Golf scene and we have now bought an auto on flea bay? just got to go to DUNDEE to get it!!!!!!!!!! This one?s for my fair lady Nik Naks.

Just remember no matter how frustrated we get with the cars there?s just nothing like em!!! That?s enough waffling; finally got some pics of the Golf in action and thought peeps may want to see some old school action courtesy of my Dad, pics from ?76 ? ?78 events.
