Why does my golf only have one window wiper?

My golf is the only one iv seen with a single window wiper.... why is this? It has one fitted from factory...it is not missing one, it just has one window wiper covering the whole width of the windscreen. WHY?

it has been modified to only use 1 wiper. i have done it to mine.

factory they al come with two wipers. do you have about a 4 inch gap between the drivers side window seal and the wiper? if you do then the panel where the wiper stalk comes out of is still standard. if the wiper come close on both sides then the original wiper stalk holes have been covered up and a new one has been drilled. if you have this then you will not be able to go back to standard without finding and drilling that old hole out again…
or getting a new panel.
