why do vw not recognise the car's vin number?

as above, I have an X reg Karmann cab 1.6auto and went to VW to try and get the paint code as i am missing the boot sticker and they didn't recognise it…. and tried to insinuate that I had written it down wrong!


why does it not show up? :dontknow:

That's a question for them, not us. But I suspect they sold the car before they started recording/compiling VIN numbers and detailed specification.

I've had the dealer (parts guy) tell me my registration number is impossible because its an X suffix style…..
